It is just a small village in the middle of Tuscany among the hills with 800 inhabitants. There is a church, cafes, post office, groceries and some men sitting on the square. Life is almost the same as 50 years ago but sometimes Andrea Bocelli passes with his horse- he was born here and has a house still. Summertime evenings the square is getting loud with italian and foreign visitors but the afternoon it is still quiet.
I live here more than 15 years and like it each season. Being part of the big family is easy here if you want to dont't mind to stop always and talk with them.
We go to the beach within 1 hour if it is hot, or just visit the nearby towns like Volterra o San Gimignano half an hour drive. Take a gelato in Siena and sitting on the Campo square- it is just an hour from here and a bit further we can taste wine at the Chianti area or Montalcino. Springtime we go to Firenze for the museums or check if the leaning tower is still there on the Miracles' square in Pisa, 45 minutes drive.
I may prefer the less known small villages and drive on the real tuscan roads full of turns and hills. Bikers and motorbikers are on the road weekends, they enjoy to climb up and stop for a nice photo or a cold beer.
It is a perfect basis fot the real Tuscany....
